R2400: When I try to install the software in Windows XP, I see a message telling me that the file E_DMAI18.DLL is needed. What should I do?

EXPLANATION:

One of the software files may be corrupt. Follow these steps to correct the problem:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

  2. Click Start and select Control Panel. Open Add or Remove Programs.

  3. Locate 'EPSON Printer Software' in Add or Remove Programs. Click on it and then click on Change/Remove and follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall the software.


  4. Click Start and select My Computer.

    Notes Icon Note:

    If you don't see My Computer in the Start menu, double-click My Computer on your computer's desktop.


  5. Double-click the icon that represents your hard drive (usually C:).

  6. Double-click Program Files.

  7. Double-click EPSON.

  8. Double-click PrinterDriverTemp.

  9. Delete the folder that names your product model e.g. for the Stylus Photo R2400, you should delete the SPR24000 folder.

    If you see a Confirm File Delete window, click Yes to All.


  10. Reinstall the software using either the CD or the driver file which can be downloaded from the Epson website.

    If you reinstall using the CD and it still doesn't work, repeat this procedure from step 1 but try reinstalling with the downloaded file instead. Click here for help with downloading drivers.

    Reconnect the USB cable to the printer when you are prompted to do so by the installation software.

If the steps above don't solve the problem, follow these steps:

  1. If you have any USB devices other than the Stylus Photo R2400 connected to your computer, disconnect those devices.

  2. Click Start and select Control Panel.

    Notes Icon Note:

    If you don't see Control Panel in the Start menu, select Settings and then Control Panel.


  3. Double-click Printers and Faxes.


  4. Double-click Add Printer.

  5. The Add Printer Wizard will appear. Click Next.

  6. Select Local printer attached to this computer and make sure the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer box is not checked. Then click Next.

  7. Select USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB) from the Use the following port list. Then click Next.

  8. When you see the window containing the list of manufacturers, click Have Disk.

  9. Click Browse, navigate to the C:\Program Files\EPSON\PrinterDriverTemp\SPR2400 folder, and then double-click E_DF19SA.INF.

  10. Click OK.

  11. Click Next or Finish in each remaining window to complete the installation.

    If you see a window asking if you want to replace the existing driver, select Replace existing driver before you click Next.


  12. Reconnect your other USB devices if necessary.
